Umpatacum
Following his research into the connections between African music specifically from Nigeria and Benin Republic and its direct relationship to Afro-Brazilian music, Adewale formed Umpatacum, an ensemble performing both traditional and original tunes from, and inspired by, Afro-Brazilian musical traditions, including styles like Coco, Jongo and Baiao, as well as the more well-known Samba. Respecting the legacy of such strong musical traditions, Umpatacum mix contemporary and traditional elements to create a vibrant, uptempo and dynamic performance.
