Adriano Adewale Trio
Adriano is joined by special guests: Brazilian composer and multi instrumentalist Marcelo Andrade and composer and guitarist Jonathan Preiss (Caratinga).
Together they perform a concert exploring the work of 20th century Afro-Brazilian composer Pixinguinha. Living in Rio de Janeiro, Pixinguinha’s compositions were mainly in a style known as Chorinho and he was one of the first composers to incorporate Jazz and Improvisation in Brazilian music. Chorinho has many similarities to Baroque music, but with a distinctly Brazilian rhythm and flavour. Passionate, virtuoso, challenging, informative, charming and fun, this concert communicates the essence of Brazilian music.
Featuring Adriano Adewale (percussion/xylophone), Marcelo Andrade (Flutes and Sax) and Jonathan Preiss (7 string acoustic guitar).
“…a fabulous range of sounds and rhythms reminiscent of the great Airto Moreira’s magic but with a personality of its own.” The Herald, Edinburgh
