ADRIANO ADEWALE:SOUND JOURNEY
A SEGUE Production in association with the Lakeside Theatre Colchester
Combining music, theatre and dance in an innovative and unique way, join the master percussionist’s remarkable journey from Africa to South America, desert to rain forest, village to city. A virtuoso, moving and intimate performance appealing directly to the senses!

Created, composed and performed by: Adriano Adewale
Producer: Fiona Mason at SEGUE
Director, movement and staging: Kate Flatt
Dramaturge: Andrei de Almeida
Technical Manager, lighting and sound: Laura Hammond
A solo show of music, dance and story-telling directed by Kate Flatt. Adewale, who has created the show, plays an astounding array of drums and percussion instruments in extraordinary and surprising ways; the audience is unlikely to have seen or heard drain-pipes, flip-flops, bottle-tops and water employed to such unique musical and percussive effect before.
"I’ve really gone on a personal journey in creating this show,” says Adewale. “It has been inspired by learning more about my roots and by my experience as an Afro-Brazilian artist living and working in the UK. As a performer, Sound Journey takes me to a space where listening becomes sacred, moving becomes instinctive and imagining is just like breathing."
Sound Journey is at turns humorous, passionate and thought provoking and is a production the whole family will enjoy. The audience is led on a sonic journey which evokes the enormity of traditional landscapes and communities from Africa to South America. A mesmerising performance for the whole family which is guaranteed to awaken the senses.
